Oh Glorious Day!

Well, folks . . . the unimaginable happened this morning. You're not going to believe this, but I actually made it up for a run this morning before work! I'm not going to pretend like it was easy to get up--in fact, ask Wilson about how easy it was for me to get up. The poor guy received an elbow to the ribs this morning, as I spastically attempted to talk my body out of the extra 90 minutes of sleep. It wasn't pretty. But still, he managed to survive my sudden (and brutal) blow, and we headed out for what turned into a 4.55 mile "easy" run at a 10:04/mile pace. It was supposed to be 5-miles, but given my reluctance to get up, we didn't quite have time for the full five. Plus, 4.55 is just a much more natural distance, given the route we take (run to the park, run loop, run home). In order to complete 5 miles, we would've had to have gotten a little bit creative. And frankly, who has the energy to get creative at 6 a.m.? Not me; that's for sure!

The run felt easy, which was nice. It was only in the low-70s, but with 81% humidity, I was certainly a disgusting mess by the time we finished up!! Ah, summer!! Tonight, I've got another soccer game (when do I NOT have a soccer game?--honestly!) . . . so hopefully I'll have some gas left in the tank for it (insert unfunny quip about "the price of fuel these days" here)! I downed two cups of coffee earlier in the day--and I just gave in and purchased an Iced Americano from the Starbucks downstairs (I'm pulling out the big guns!). So hopefully that will get me through the game. Ha, I forgot how tired I tend to get in the late afternoon after running in the a.m.! I am a sleepy, sluggish mess! Oh well, what can you do? Wish me luck tonight . . . hopefully after my game, I can get home and finish up part 2 of my St. John vacation report (but don't be surprised if I instead fall asleep at approximately 8:30 p.m.)

Congrats Irish (and Wilson). I will attempt to do the same tomorrow. (I failed miserably in my first attempt today!) Hope you kicked ass in your soccer game...knowing you, I'm guessing 2 goals!

My bets are that you fell asleep at 8:27pm, scored at least once, and took a look at the black and blue Wilson endured from that brutality. Good job to both on your morning run, I think I need someone to crack my ribs, just to get my eyes opened!

Congratulations! Waking up early for a run is quite an achievement, if you ask me. I have yet to do it!

Also, thanks for all the info on Brooklyn. I may be looking at a few places in Park Slope next week...we'll see! I cannot believe how hard it is to find an apartment, and the search isn't made any easier by the fact that I am not actually in the area...

Great job on waking up early for a run! I always have that problem on the weekends (I don't have nearly enough time during week unless I wanted to wake up at 4 am to run). However, after you get them done, doesn't it feel great to be done with it for the day?
