I'm a Quitter . . .

. . . and I'm not talking about my running when I say that.

Ladies and gentlemen of the interwebs: I, Irish Cream, finally quit my terrible-horrible-no good-very bad corporate litigation paralegal job yesterday. That's right. Mark it in the history books that on Friday, July 31, 2009*, I finally grew the cojones to give my two weeks notice (which, trust me, was VERY kind of me considering the ways I've been abused at the place). My last day in the legal field will be August 14, 2009. From that point on, I will be on a journey . . . a journey that honestly scares the bejezus out of me. But also a journey that will (hopefully) be fulfilling and filled with passion; and yes, perhaps even some happiness! :)

I've mentioned in recent times that I'd "been thinking" about going into some sort of fitness and/or nutrition field. Well, yesterday was the day that I took my life into my own hands, said "enough is enough," and decided to make that happen. As Wilson so eloquently commented on a facebook status of mine that announced this news to the world, "suck it, corporate law!" Yes, suck it indeed!

So there you go. Life is good. And scary. But still good. Yes, very good.

More soon on my "plan" . . . but for now, I just wanted to celebrate the fact that y'all will never have to hear me complain about that awful job ever again! :)

*I need a good name for this new holiday so that I can officially celebrate it each year. Any suggestions? I used all of my brainpower writing my (literally) two-line letter of resignation yesterday! Ha.

Hey Irish,
Congrats on taking the big step. You are young and this is the time to learn about what you want to do with your life, rather than be stuck at a job that drains your energy. Good luck with everything! Ana-Maria

Holy cow... you're so brave! I'm impressed and I hope you are able to work out a much better life for yourself. Find a way so you "work to live" and not "live to work".

Name for this holiday... Something about reclaiming your life?

Very cool - congrats, you DID IT !

You must've really hated that job if it made you grow a pair! LOL

I used to dream of working in the fitness field, but ya know what they say about teaching this old dog any new tricks. You're lucky to be young (& ballsy!)

Now as to naming this new holiday celebrating 7/31: 7,3, and 1 are alll prime numbers. So how about "Prime Suck It" day. In honor of your FB message. Or maybe somthing more publicly presentable like Prime Directive day (too Trekie?), or how about Prime Cut Day - honors both your "cutting out" from legal field and yer luv of a good steak. Celebrate with one of these: {couldn't get photo into this comment... so pls follow link} http://irun4fun-deldean.blogspot.com/2009/08/4-irish-cream.html

Well congratulations on making a hard decision. I'm sure you will be happy with the outcome. July 31 is now know as the Independence day of Irish Cream! Countries have an independence day, but you would be the first person, how cool is that?

CONGRATS! All things happen for a reason, and as you know this will work out for the best for you. Hey, you'll have more time to drink beer also!! Speaking of beer, I got a free beer after my last 5K race this past Thursday!! It sounds like you gave them 2 more weeks notice than you should have...LOL.

SWEET! and congrats. i see first hand how hard and how much toll the legal toll takes on those who work in it. so good for you!

i think the day shall forever be deemed 'suck it' day. and every anniversary you can pick some aspect, or thing, or person in your life that/who can suck it!! then drink some beer and eat some beef.
